MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES â Art student Jesse Jeane Harkness will present her senior capstone exhibition beginning April 1 at à±ßäÂț». A closing reception, free and open to the public, will be held April 11 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Harknessâs series, Confined, will be on display at the MSU Billings Art Departmentâs Outer Gallery on the first floor of the Liberal Arts Building. The solo exhibition highlights the artistâs study of the human figure in a series of oil paintings and free-standing sculptures.
The work explores a feminist perspective on societal roles and its effects on women. âThe series calls attention to the pain that is often concealed behind what society propagates as some of the happiest moments in a womanâs life,â Harkness said. The pieces range from oil paintings to a mass collection of baby bottle nipples.
Harkness will graduate with a Bachelorâs of Fine Art in May 2014. She has an active exhibition record of group and juried exhibitions.
The Outer Gallery is located on the first floor of the Liberal Arts Building on MSUBâs four-year campus and is open MondayâFriday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information on the exhibition, call the MSU Billings Department of Art at 657-2324.
