We are very excited for you to start your academic career at Montana State University! Orientation is your introduction to life at à±ßäÂþ»­.

Orientation will ensure you and your family/supporters are connected to the campus, meet new friends, explore the Billings community, and experience life as a 'Jacket! RSVP'S CLOSE ON SUNDAY, JULY 6TH AT 5PM. If you would like to RSVP after this date, please call our office.

All students are highly encouraged to attend a Registration Session prior to attending New Student Orientation.

This two day event is designed to welcome you as a new student and provides meaningful sessions, timely information, and activities where you'll meet new Yellowjackets, explore student service programs, master the art of navigating campus programs, preview college clubs and organizations, and participate in workshops that prepare you for your first year at MSU Billings. Parents and supporters are welcome to attend New Student Orientation as we have specialized sessions just for them!

  • Connect with other incoming Yellowjackets
  • Connect with MSUB staff and Academic Advisors
  • Apply for specialized campus programs and student support services early
  • Engage in specialized sessions and workshops that will prepare you for the first day of classes

Overnight Stay
Staying overnight during the two-day Orientation is required and is built into the orientation program fee. If you need to request an exemption for staying on campus, please contact the Admissions Office. Please note there is no proration for any approved housing exemptions. We do not offer overnight accomodations for parents, supporters and guests. .

Housing Assignments
Students are automatically assigned single rooms on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached. Once single rooms are filled, double-room assignments will be made. Shared rooms are also available by request. If you would like to room with a friend or future Yellowjacket, please contact our office in advance with their name so we can make the arrangement.

Orientation Fees (Non-Refundable)
The Fall Orientation fee is $66 per student, which includes materials and supplies, parking, swag, all meals (including snacks), and an overnight stay in the residence halls. The fee for parents, supporters, or guests is $26 per person.

By submitting your RSVP, you acknowledge and understand that Orientation fees must be paid prior to attendance or at check-in, as outlined above.

Transportation from the airport to campus

For students who are flying into Billings Orientation and who will not have access to a vehicle, we recommend you use Uber or another rideshare app to get from the airport to campus. Billings also has taxi service

Billings local  bus system is a great way to get around town. The MET does stop on campus and Billings Logan International Airport.
